Heather P. Kuhn

Registered Somatic Movement Therapist

Heather Kuhn is a trauma-informed body psychotherapist and a Registered Somatic Movement Therapist, holding a Master of Arts in Somatic Counseling Psychology from Naropa University. Heather’s work as a therapist weaves together open-minded deep listening, experiential learning, body awareness, movement, mindfulness, and creative process in a blend that is collaborative and responsive to your particular goals and needs. Her approach is deeply informed by neuropsychology — what we now know about how the brain works and how it and the larger nervous system influence how we experience life, ourselves, and relationships.

Heather has a particular passion for working with adults who have lost touch with their sense of self, purpose, and vitality, whether as a result of a traumatic childhood, a recent or distant loss, addiction, or a scary diagnosis. She is guided by an understanding that — with warm and consistent therapeutic attention and a little bit of courage — change, growth, and healing are not only possible but inevitable.

Before joining InnerWell, Heather had an integrative psychotherapy practice at a leading counseling center in Denver. She has also enjoyed facilitating movement groups focused on empowerment in community, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) groups focused on helping people learn to more effectively handle strong emotions and to connect with others in meaningful and healthy ways. In the past, she has worked with substance dependency treatment and intensive outpatient therapy programs. As someone who embraces difference, Heather is committed to social justice in her therapeutic work and in the world. Among her various talents, Heather also happens to be a seasoned performer and a martial artist.
